and railways in Syria. All the proposals of
the Ukrainian part will be studied. On the
other hand, the Syrian part will submit the
appropriate technical parameters of required
materials as well as delivery conditions,
including these of pipes and rails.
The Syrians will review the Ukraine’s
proposals with regard to reconstruction and
modernization of old cement factories and
construction of new cement works.
During the talks, a decisionwas taken on
the establishment of joint Ukrainian-Syrian
company for manufacture of generators
and electricmotors. The parties have also
agreed upon another important joint
project – the company for manufacturing
supports for high-voltage power lines. The
correspondingmemorandumwas signed
by “Ukrmontazhspetsstroy”and “Syria Net”.
Moreover, Ukrainewill also in the future
deliver spare parts to generators, transformers
and pumps to the “Tishrin”power plant.
This point was fixed in the protocol of the
Intergovernmental commission.

assessment of conformity and quality.
As to the trade, the parties agreed to set
up aworking group for the elaboration of
frame principles of the Free Trade Agreement
and expressed their readiness to cooperate
with representatives of state and non-state
companies, interested to enter the Iraqi
market (the use of Ukraine’s potential and
existing resources of the Syrian part). It is
being planned to sign the treaty between the
countries immediately after the appropriate
conditions will be created. The parties have
also reached an understanding on the
establishment of the Ukrainian-Syrian bank;
this understandingwill be soon legally enacted
inDamascus.
The important decisionwasmade by
Ukrainian-Syrian commission to coordinate
a draft protocol between the State Customs
service of Ukraine and Customs Administration
of Syria on the exchange of customs statistic
information.
The Ukrainian steel andmachine building
enterprises will have the opportunity to
take part in the construction of pipelines
