are interested indevelopment of trade and

Prior to the receptionby theChamber of
Commerceand IndustryofDubai, inSeptember
2006,Mr. AlMutaiwi, Ex-DirectorGeneral of this
reputableEmirateorganizationvisitedKyivupon
the invitation from theChamber of Commerce
and IndustryofUkraineandUkrainianTrade
Center. Thegoal ofmeetingsof thishighly
esteemedguestwith leadersofUkrainian
governmentwas todiscuss topical issuesof
economiccooperationbetweenUkraineandUAE.
During the talkswithMr. AlMutaiwi, First
Deputy PrimeMinister of UkraineMykolaAzarov
mentioned theunique aircraft construction
technologies developedbyUkrainian scientists.
Thus, Ukrainiandesigners created a few aircraft
models likeAN-148havingno analogs in the
world. Thedevelopment of AN-70 aircraft is
nearing completion: its serial productionwill
be launched in2008.When this aircraftwas
designed, thedesigners knew about serious
competition from leading European and
American companies and thereforeprovided
certain competitive strengthsmaking this cargo
aircraft better than all the foreign-made analogs.
Moreover, according toexpert opinions, no
aircraftwith similar characteristics is going tobe
made in any foreign countrywithin thenext 10
years. However, Ukraineneeds investments to
begin serial productionof this aircraft.
Themeetingof the Ex-Director General of
Dubai Chamber of Commercewith theHeadof
the StateProperty FundValentina Semenyukwas
just as productive. StateProperty Fund continues
thepracticeof openprivatization andhas
submitted to theParliament the list of facilities
subject toprivatization in2007. This list includes
not only state-ownedbut also community-
owned facilities. Informationon the facilities is
public and the StateProperty Funduses its best
efforts tomake the investors feel secure and
protected inUkraine, saidValentina Semenyuk.
Negotiationsbetween thePresident of
Ukraine’sCCI SergeySkrypchenkoandEx-Director
General ofDubai CCI AlMutaiwi becameanew
step forward in the relationships. Themeeting
was friendlyandproductive: leadersof CCIsof
UkraineandDubai discussedanumber of issues
requiring immediate resolution. In theconclusion
of the talks, AlMutaiwi said that despite thebrief
durationof his visit toUkraine, the things they saw
really impressed theEmiratesdelegation including
theBusinessDevelopmentDepartmentDirector
ofDubai CCI SultanM. Lootah.
Wewould like tomention that the first
meeting at the level of Ukraine’s andDubai
CCIs occurred in1995, when thedelegation
of Ukraine’s CCI visitedUAE. During that visit,
